Hi, I’m Alyssa McDermott

I am a contemporary portrait painter working primarily in acrylics, creating evocative figurative paintings that explore emotional intimacy, interior experience, and human connection. My work focuses on quiet, psychologically rich moments—often depicting women, caregivers, and relational figures in states of closeness, reflection, or emotional overwhelm.

Through expressive realism and intentional color, I paint portraits that emphasize gesture, touch, and posture.

My paintings often explore themes of motherhood, care, vulnerability, and emotional labor, capturing moments that feel private and deeply human. These contemporary figurative artworks are created to invite pause and connection, offering space for reflection rather than confrontation.

I am a mother myself, a diet coke addict, plant lover, and tattoo collector. I find joy in beautiful shadows, sparkly light, and wiggly doggies who are excited to see you.

Based in North Texas, I create original acrylic portrait paintings and fine art prints for collectors who are drawn to emotionally resonant, narrative-driven contemporary art. My work is available through select exhibitions, online platforms, and direct inquiry.
